Frequently Asked Questions
What people most often ask about NASIOU, our editorial process and how to read us.
- Is NASIOU a travel agency?
- No. NASIOU is an editorial publication. We research, write and publish destination stories. We do not sell flights, hotels or tours. We sometimes link to operators we have vetted, but the booking happens directly with them.
- How do you choose which places to cover?
- We start with a question rather than a destination: where else does a traveller find the qualities people go to Santorini, Kyoto or Reykjavik for - without the crowds? From that question we build candidate lists, visit in person where possible, and only publish once a place has been seen with our own eyes or covered by a writer who lives there.
- Do you accept press trips or sponsored content?
- Occasionally, and always with a clear declaration at the top of the article. A press trip never guarantees a positive review, and we reserve the right to publish a critical piece even when our travel was hosted. See our Editorial Standards page for the full policy.
- Why don't you publish a comments section?
- We prefer email. A thoughtful note from a reader who actually visited a place we covered is worth more than a hundred drive-by comments. Write to us at the address on the Contact page.
- Can I pitch a story?
- Yes. We welcome pitches from writers who live in the destinations they want to cover. Send a short note describing the place, why it deserves a feature and a paragraph of sample prose to our editorial team via the Contact page.
- Why is some pricing or transport information out of date?
- Travel changes quickly. We re-verify articles on a rolling cycle and publish update notices when a destination changes materially. If you spot something out of date, please tell us - corrections are taken seriously.
- Do you offer custom itineraries?
- Not as a paid service. Our articles are the itinerary. Each long-form destination piece includes a suggested route, a recommended length of stay and a season-by-season note so you can plan independently.
